Learn2Cycle- November & December 2019

Dublin City Council Sports Inclusion and Integration Office will be running two Learn To Cycle Courses in November/December. Learn To Cycle offers participants with additional needs the opportunity to learn to cycle in a fun and safe environment. The programme is delivered by a qualified Learn to Cycle instructor from Cycle Right and requires active parental involvement during the sessions.

Each participant must bring their own bike and helmet which can be adjusted to the correct height for the child to facilitate progress.

While every child will have their own learning curve, with active parental support during the sessions and frequent home practice between sessions, progress towards independent cycling can be evident from week to week.

Kevin St. Garda Station Open Day- Sunday 13 October 2019

This Sunday, 13th October 2019, Superintendent John Gordon of Kevin Street Garda Divisional Headquarters is hosting a Station Open Day. The event will run from 2-5pm (Autism Friendly from 2-2:30pm [No Lights or Sirens]), during which time members of the public are invited to tour the station, meet with various local and national units (including Garda Dog Unit, Garda Armed Support Unit and many more), view and experience various Garda vehicles and equipment etc. This is a family event and everyone is welcome.

Race Running

Race Running is an adapted sport for children and adults who cannot functionally run and rely on the use of an aid for mobility and balance. There is a race running open day taking place on Saturday 28th September from 10am – 4pm in the Sport Ireland Campus. 

  1. Special Olympics Young Athletes Club Ballyfermot

Special Olympics are setting up a new Young Athlete Club in Ballyfermot.  If you have a child or know someone who might be interested in joining this club, you are invited to attend a Parents Information Evening on Tuesday October 1st at 6.30pm in Ballyfermot Leisure Centre. The meeting will last no longer than 45 minutes to an hour.  Feel free to pass this information to anyone else who you feel would be interested in becoming part of this new club.   1. Adult Badminton sessions for adults with ADHD

Dublin City Sports and Wellbeing Partnership, in conjunction with ADHD Ireland are running a six week badminton programme for adults with ADHD. For more information, please see badminton poster attached. Starting Monday October 7th, 6pm – 7pm in Aughrim Street Sports Hall.
